The Queen of Pup Cups

Meet Maggie Mae — a 14-year-old “Schweenie” (that’s part shih tzu, part dachshund, and 100% personality) who’s been by Tia’s side through just about everything life can throw her way.

Maggie came into Tia’s life as a college graduation gift from her mom — the kind of gift that quickly turns into family. From day one, Maggie decided her full-time job was sticking right by Tia’s side, and she’s never once considered retirement. She’s been there for every late-night study session, every move, every early morning, and every nap in between.

Sleeping arrangements? Well, let’s just say Maggie runs a tight ship. She’s always slept with Tia — and she insists on staying in full contact, no matter what. When she was younger, she’d curl up by Tia’s head. Now that she’s older and a little wiser, she prefers the foot of the bed, but she must be touching her human at all times. If Tia moves, Maggie moves too — that’s commitment at its cutest.

But don’t let her age fool you — Maggie’s still got plenty of spunk! She’s a pro at going “bye-bye,” and she doesn’t care where they’re headed as long as she’s along for the ride. Walmart run? She’s there. Hiking trail? Ready. Kayaking? Don’t tempt her with a good time. Maggie’s motto is simple: “If mom’s going, I’m going.”

And then there’s her weekend tradition — one that would make any barista proud. Every Saturday and Sunday morning, the moment Tia comes downstairs, Maggie sprints to the front door barking like it’s her personal alarm clock. She knows it’s coffee time… which means it’s pup-cup time. She doesn’t calm down until the keys are in hand and she’s en route to her favorite treat. Some dogs fetch balls — Maggie fetches caffeine (for mom) and whipped cream (for herself).

At the end of the day, Maggie Mae is more than just a pet — she’s family. She’s the first face Tia sees in the morning, the warm greeting waiting at the door, and the one who reminds her that no matter how the day goes, love, loyalty, and a few doggie kisses can make it all better. She’s the definition of an old soul with a young heart — and we couldn’t love her story more.

Because here at Haynes, we know our Associates aren’t the only ones who make this place special — their furry family does too.
