This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Juan Montero, one of our standout Service Technicians from the Phoenix team — and a dedicated student at Haynes University. Juan’s story is a perfect example of what Haynes is all about: growth, teamwork, and a passion for learning.

Juan joined Haynes a couple of years ago, drawn by the opportunity to grow his skills and be part of a company that truly invests in its people. “I wanted to work somewhere that challenges me daily and gives me a chance to keep learning — Haynes offered exactly that.”

When it comes to the trade, Juan loves that no two days are ever the same. “Every job is different. I like problem-solving, working with my hands, and seeing the results of my work right away.” It’s that hands-on satisfaction — keeping systems running and customers comfortable — that keeps him motivated.

Ask him about the Phoenix team, and his face lights up. “The Phoenix team is hardworking, supportive, and tight-knit. Everyone looks out for each other — whether it’s a VRF install, a PM, or a last-minute service call. There’s a lot of knowledge here, and everyone’s willing to share it so we can all grow stronger together.”

Juan’s drive to learn led him to enroll in Haynes University, where he’s taking his technical knowledge to the next level. “It’s not just about getting better at service calls,” he says. “It’s about becoming a well-rounded technician who can lead projects in the future.” The program’s been a game-changer, giving him the confidence and know-how to tackle complex systems and troubleshoot with precision.

“My favorite part has been the hands-on training — connecting what I learn in class to what I’m doing in the field,” Juan says. “When that connection clicks, it feels great.”

When he’s not up on a roof or in the classroom, Juan’s all about family time. You’ll find him at his kids’ games, barbecuing, or just relaxing with loved ones. “Family is my reset,” he says. “It keeps me balanced and reminds me why I work so hard.”

That motivation shines through in everything he does. “My kids are my biggest motivation. I want to show them what hard work and discipline look like. Every day I try to get better — for them, for myself, and for my future.”
